Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Maggie (pictured above), my husband, and I made it safely to Minnesota on Sunday night. Fortunately, we had pretty good weather for the drive, but we could’ve lived without the -30 degree windchills! We’ll be spending time with my family before we get back in the car on Friday morning and head east again. We’re hoping the weather is kind to us for the return trip too!

Thanks to you, 2008 has been a great year for Sheila Y Photography. I have the best clients, and it’s been so great working with you and sharing births, birthdays, and just everyday life with all of you. I hope you have a happy, relaxing holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you again in the new year!

On the road . . .

On Thursday morning, my husband, our dog Maggie, and I piled in the car and headed west. We arrived in Minnesota late Friday night, after taking a scenic detour around central Wisconsin. Flooding there has caused road closures, and there was no good way to get where we were going. As you can see, Maggie enjoyed the trip. Whenever we got off the highway and slowed down, we allowed her some “window time.”

I’m going to be here for a few weeks, spending time with family. But don’t worry—I have my laptop here and will be responding to email. And if you’ve recently had a session with me, I’ll be working on your proofs too. Watch for an email with the password to your gallery.

I’m here because my niece, Catherine (pictured below), will be having surgery on Thursday to drain a cyst on her brain. My family and I appreciate any good thoughts and prayers you can send our way.

Vacation

Vacation

My husband and I just returned from five days at Disney World with my sister, her husband, and their three kids. We had a great time running around the various theme parks, enjoying them from the kids’ perspective.

My niece (pictured above) turned five while we were there, and we had breakfast with the princesses on her birthday. It was so great to watch her face as each princess approached our table. But I think her favorite thing all week was the Mad Tea Party ride, or as she called it, the “D cups” (teacups).

Florida experienced record low temperatures while we were there, and we wore long pants and jackets all week. This morning when I got dressed in Pennsylvania, I put on shorts. Who woulda thought?! It’s good to be home!
