Siblings

DSC_5191

Just when I think I might want to specialize in maternity and newborn sessions, a family like this comes along. These kids were so great, and they live on a beautiful farm with a lot of barns and outbuildings that made great backdrops for our session.

Big brother A. loves football, climbing trees, and helping his dad with handyman jobs around the house. But he wasn’t too busy to give me a few smiles.

And M. is all about keeping up with her brother. As her mom says, “She wants to do everything he does, but wants to wear pink while she does it.” So true! But she also put on her ballet dress for me and showed me some curtsies and spins. Here she is in the doorway of one of the barns. Isn’t she gorgeous?

Thank you, W family, for a great session on Sunday! Enjoy your sneak peek!

It’s . . . another boy!

Wow . . . three posts in a row with newborn boys! Little G-man was 11 days old when I photographed him on Friday. You may remember his parents and their beagle from this post back in August.

He did fine when we put him in a basket, on a platter, or on his changing table for a few shots. But he was definitely happiest when he was in Mom’s or Dad’s arms.

I just love his little open mouth. Each time he settled in, he let out a a big sigh. So sweet. And check out his pretzel pose. It doesn’t look too comfy to me, but he was happy as a clam.

C and T, thanks so much for inviting me to meet your sweet boy. I’m so glad I’ll be able to watch him grow. I’ll have your proofs ready soon; in the meantime, enjoy your sneak peek!

Trey’s here!

Back in August, you met Trey’s family right here on the blog. He arrived a few days early, and I was so happy to meet him this morning. He’s such a little peanut, and just get a load of all that dark hair! He was really great for us, and he slept quite a bit. But guess when he absolutely would not sleep? Yep . . . when we had him under the Sweet Dreams sign!

Isn’t that sign cool?! He received it as a gift, and it matches his nursery. Part of it is painted, but the stripes are actually made of ribbon.

I have lots of favorites from this session, and these next two are definitely in contention for first place. This first one is rather nontraditional, but it makes me smile. The symmetry of the dogs’ “arms” and the baby’s arms is too funny!

Isn’t that a great rug underneath them? I loved its texture.

And this shot is so sweet that it almost make my teeth hurt to look at it. His grandma made his hat, and he’s all ready for fall.

J and P, it was great to see you again today. I really enjoyed my time with you and with little T. Thanks so much—enjoy your sneak peek!

A new crew member . . . ?

I never get tired of shooting newborns. They require a lot of patience and (believe it or not!) hard work, but the results are so worth it. In just a few weeks, little L will have lost most of his newborn-ness, but Mom and Dad will always have these photos to remember just how tiny he was.

We couldn’t resist dressing him up in a few hats . . .

. . . and we definitely had to incorporate the beautiful living room into some photos.

Toward the end of the session, L woke up. If I had to put a caption on this one it would be, “Oh Lord, is that woman with the camera still here?!?”

Thank you, J and C, for inviting me to your home this morning–it was so great to finally meet you!

Sofia’s mom & dad

I met the nicest people this morning! C & C are waiting for Sofia’s arrival in October, and they wanted me to document this stage in their family’s life. We had a good time playing with different props.

We also spent some time keeping Agassi the schnoodle at bay. He wanted to be in the shots too! So we obliged. He even got some solo time at the end.

Thank you, C & C, for sharing this exciting time with me. I can’t wait to meet your new little girl!
